ASSISTANT ENGINEERING EDUCATOR, MIT Sea Grant College Program, to plan and conduct outreach in the fields of marine science, engineering, and technology. Will collaborate with marine educator, advisory staff, research staff, and partners to create and implement educational outreach programs for students in K-12 and the general public. Current major projects include the Sea Perch ROV Program, water quality monitoring, and biofuels. Duties include developing and executing sustainable engineering projects in marine science; producing training manuals and providing technical support for the K-12 community; producing and distributing outreach materials; organizing workshops; and performing limited lab work. Will work directly with teachers, students, and the public. Duties will be performed both in the field and in an office setting. |
| Requirements: |
REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor\\\\\\\'s degree in engineering; a minimum of two years\\\\\\\' relevant experience in education, technical support, engineering, or in a coordination position; general engineering skills and experience teaching engineering; demonstrated ability to prioritize, take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team; excellent communication skills; an aptitude for and comfort learning new skills and technology; and a desire to educate. Basic knowledge of software programming and simple electronics, project management experience, and knowledge of water quality sampling preferred. MIT-00007060
There will be local travel (some overnight) for which a valid driver\\\\\\\'s license and private means of transportation are needed. Position will be located at the MIT Sea Grant Marine Education Center in Gloucester, MA. |
