Underwater Wet Welding (WeldTech)

Brief overview of program: Coursework consists of lectures in mechanical properties and metallurgy of steels, metallurgy in welding, joint design, electrode selection, and other topics associated with underwater welding. Practical work is extensive, both topside and underwater, and forms the critical component in acquiring mandatory craft skills. Students are tested at the end of the program by undergoing wet welding qualification trials. These qualification trials are in accordance with the internationally recognized underwater welding specification, ANSI/AWS D3.6-93.

For the students that enter the workforce, what are the most common occupations that they pursue with this degree or certificate? WeldTech training provides the student with additional craft skills in topside and wet welding. These skills enhance employment opportunities for the student desiring to work for diving contractors.
