Brief overview of program: Rider University is a private, non-sectarian teaching university with approximately 4,000 undergraduate students located on two campuses in Lawrenceville and Princeton, New Jersey. The marine sciences major, one of six offered by the Department of Geological, Environmental, and Marine Sciences (GEMS), is located on the Lawrenceville campus. Students majoring in marine sciences can investigate chemical, biologic, geologic, and physical marine processes and their connection to other earth systems.

Description of Facilities: All GEMS programs, including marine sciences, are housed in the Rider University Science and Technology Center, along with all other science departments. GEMS maintains field facilities at the Lighthouse Education Center in Waretown, NJ and also provides field experiences at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, Bermuda, and the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences, Honduras.
