Welcome! The Exploring Marine Careers course at MPC is designed for people who are interested in pursuing education & employment in a marine science or technology field. I'm the instructor, Tora Johnson. The basis for this course is the OceanCareers.com website, offering a wealth of information & resources about ocean careers. You can learn more about the course and even enroll using the links below. Once you are enrolled, please send me an email to introduce yourself and then check out the login instructions below to get started.

Loggin in...

Once you have enrolled in the Exploring Ocean Careers course, you may log in to the course website.

  1. Go to http://ilearn.mpc.edu/.
  2. Your username is first two letters of your first name and first two letters of your last name followed by the last four digits of your new student ID.  This is not case sensitive. For example, Moby Dick would log on as MODI6789.
  3. In the password section type changeme. Once again use all lowercase letters.
  4. Click "Login."
  5. You will be asked to change your password.

• Decide which ocean careers might be right for you

• Create a plan to acquire the skills and education you need
• Learn more from people working in fields that interest you
• Develop a resume geared toward target employers
• Search for and identify job openings in your chosen field
• Begin contacting potential employers to learn more about their hiring needs and priorities
• Conduct an informational interview with a potential employer

This online course and the OceanCareers.com website are joint projects of the Marine Advanced Technology Education Center (MATE) and the Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE).
